What Are My Deadlines and Credit Requirements?
If you’re practicing law in FL, you need to complete 30 CLE credits every 3 years.
- At least 5 in Legal Ethics, Professionalism, Substance Abuse or Mental Health & Wellness
- At least 1 hour in Professionalism (for reporting cycles ending February and March)
- Two-credit hour Florida Legal Professionalism course produced by The Florida Bar and approved by the Supreme Court of Florida
- At least 3 in Technology

How do I report my CLE credits?
Attorneys report attendance credits by logging into their Member Portal on the Florida bar website and entering the course IDs they were provided by SproutEd upon completion of their course.
Can I carry over extra CLE credits?
No credits may be carried over into the next reporting period.
What are the consequences of not completing my CLE in time?
You run the risk of being deemed a delinquent member which prohibits you from engaging in the practice of Florida law.
What if I’m New to Practicing in Florida?
Newly admitted attorneys must complete 30 credit hours every 3 years:
- At least 5 in Legal Ethics, Professionalism, Substance Abuse or Mental Illness Awareness
- At least 1 hour in Professionalism (for reporting cycles ending February and March)
- Two-credit hour Florida Legal Professionalism course produced by The Florida Bar and approved by the Supreme Court of Florida
- At least 3 in Technology
Additionally, newly admitted attorneys must complete the Basic Skills Course Requirement (BSCR) which includes:
- Phase I: Completion of a Practice with Professionalism course Sponsored by the Young Lawyers Division of the Florida Bar (YLD), no sooner than 12 months prior to and no later than 12 months after an attorney’s admission to the Florida Bar
- Phase II: Completion of 3 elective, basic, substantive CLE programs sponsored by the YLD within the first compliance period
Members of the bar under age 36 and who have not been admitted to practice law for more than 5 years are members of the YLD and subject to the BSCR. New members who are 36 or older and have been admitted for more than 5 years must complete Phase 1 of the BSCR but may file an exemption request for Phase II.
