2025 Pennsylvania CLE Deadline: What Attorneys Need to Know

As an attorney practicing in Pennsylvania, it’s important to ensure you’ve completed all the necessary credits to maintain your license and stay in good standing with the Pennsylvania Continuing Education Board.

We understand that your time is valuable. That’s why we’re here to help you navigate Pennsylvania’s CLE requirements smoothly.

What Are My Deadlines and Credit Requirements?

If you’re practicing law in PA, you need to complete 12 CLE credits every year. At least 2 of those credits must be in Ethics, Professionalism or Substance Abuse.

There are three different CLE deadlines in PA: April 30th, August 31st, or December 31st. All Pennsylvania lawyers have been permanently assigned to one of three (3) Compliance Groups chosen randomly, by lawyer ID number:

  • Group 1: May 1st through April 30th every year
  • Group 2: September 1st through August 31st every year
  • Group 3: January 1st through December 31st every year

To find your Compliance Group, contact the Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education Board at either 717-231-3250 or 800-497-2253, or through their website.

What Types of CLE Courses Are Accepted in Pennsylvania?

All 12 credits can be from Live Webcasts, 6 may be from On Demand courses.
