December 2024 Nevada CLE Deadline: What Attorneys Need to Know

As an attorney practicing in Nevada, December 31st marks a crucial date on your calendar. With the Nevada Continuing Legal Education deadline just around the corner, it’s time to ensure you’ve completed all the necessary credits to maintain your license and stay in good standing with the State of Nevada.

What Are My Deadlines and Credit Requirements?

If you’re practicing law in NV, you need to complete 13 CLE credits per calendar year. At least 2 of those credits must be in Ethics. At least 2 of those credits must be in Substance Abuse.

You have until December 31st to complete your CLEs, and until February 15th to report them (SproutEd handles the reporting for you).

What Types of CLE Courses Are Accepted in Nevada?

All 13 credits can be On-Demand or Live Webcast courses.

NV CLE FAQs

How do I report my CLE credits?
SproutEd reports your attendance and credit to the State Bar of Nevada within 30 days of completion.

By February 15th, attorneys must affirm their attendance through their Attorney Dashboard on the State Bar of Nevada website.

Can I carry over extra CLE credits?
20 General credits, 4 Ethics credits and 2 Substance Abuse credits may be carried over into the next two reporting periods.

What are the consequences of not completing my CLE in time?
Attorneys who do not complete their CLE requirement and do not ask for an extension will be subject to late fees as well as other fees and penalties. Read more here

What if I’m New to Practicing in Nevada?

Newly admitted attorneys must complete a Transitioning Into Practice program through the State Bar of Nevada.

Newly admitted attorneys are otherwise exempt from a CLE requirement for the remainder of the year in which they were admitted and the following year.
