Iowa MCLE Requirements Overview

Total Credits: 15 credit hours per year
- At least 1 hour in Ethics
- At least 1 hour in Diversity and Inclusion or Attorney Wellness
Credit Format: All 15 credits can be On-Demand or Live Webinar courses
All Courses on SproutEd are approved for credit in Iowa

CLE Deadline: December 31st
Reporting Deadline: March 10th
Reporting Procedure: Attorneys report their credits by logging into their Member Portal with the Iowa Judicial Branch Office of Professional Regulation
Compliance Procedure: Attorneys submit an Annual CLE report by logging into their Member Portal with the Iowa Judicial Branch Office of Professional Regulation

Carryover Credit: 15 credits may be carried over to the next two reporting periods, but Ethics, Diversity and Inclusion, and Attorney Wellness credits may only be carried over as General Credit
All credit hours may be completed online
All courses on SproutEd are approved for credit in Iowa

Attorneys are newly admitted for the calendar year in which they are admitted to practice in Iowa.

Iowa newly admitted attorneys have no CLE requirement in the year in which they are admitted.

Attorneys can complete all 15 credits on SproutEd. All of SproutEd’s courses are approved for credit in Iowa.
