Louisiana MCLE Requirements Overview
Credit Requirements
- Total Credits: 12.5 credit hours per year
- At least 1 hour in Ethics
- At least 1 hour in Professionalism
- Credit Format: 4 credits can be On-Demand or Live Webinar courses, at least 8.5 credit must be Live In-Person courses
- All Courses on SproutEd are approved for credit in Louisiana
Compliance & Reporting
- CLE Deadline: December 31st
- Reporting Deadline: January 31st
- Reporting Procedure: SproutEd Reports your attendance and credit to the Louisiana State Bar Association MCLE Committee within 30 days of course completion
- Compliance Procedure: In December of each year, the MCLE Committee sends each attorney a preliminary compliance report. If the report is accurate, no further action is required. If the report is inaccurate, the attorney must submit the MCLE Committee any outstanding records of compliance. If the report is accurate, but deficient, the attorney must complete all remaining CLE requirements by December 31st.

- Carryover Credit: 8 credits may be carried over to the next reporting period, except credits in Ethics
- 4 credit hours may be completed online

Newly admitted attorneys are those in their first two calendar years after admission to the Louisiana Bar.

Attorneys can complete 4 annual credits on SproutEd. All of SproutEd’s courses are approved for credit in Louisiana.
