Maine MCLE Requirements Overview

Credit Requirements

  • Total Credits: 12 credits hours per year
    • At least 1 hour Ethics
    • At least 1 hour in Harassment and Discrimination

  • Credit Format: 1 credit in Harassment and Discrimination must be taken as a Live In-Person course. 11 credit hours may be taken as Live Webinar courses. Up to 5 credits may be taken as On-Demand courses, but not the Ethics credit.

  • All Courses on SproutEd are approved for credit in Maine

Compliance & Reporting

  • CLE Deadline: December 31st

  • Reporting Deadline: The last business day in February

  • Reporting Procedure:  SproutEd Reports your attendance and credit the Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar

  • Compliance Procedure: Each year, attorneys shall certify the accuracy of their individual MCLE Annual Report Statement to the CLE Committee no later than the close of business on the last day of February
  •  

Additional Info

  • Carryover Credit: 10 credits may be carried over to the next reporting period, excluding Ethics and Harassment and Discrimination
     
  • 11 credit hours may be completed online

  • All courses on SproutEd are approved for credit in Maine

Attorneys can complete 11 credits on SproutEd. All of SproutEd’s courses are approved for credit in Maine.
