Credit Requirements

  • Total Credits: 24 credit hours every two years
    • At least 2.5 hours in Professional Conduct: Ethics, Professionalism, Alcoholism, Substance Abuse, Mental health or Access to Justice

  • Credit Format: All 24 credits can be from Live Webcasts or On Demand courses

  • All Courses on SproutEd are approved for credit in Ohio

Compliance & Reporting

  • CLE Deadline: December 31st (Last name ending in A-L – odd years; last name ending M-Z – event years)

  • Reporting Deadline: January 31st

  • Reporting Procedure: SproutEd reports your attendance and credit to the Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on Continuing Legal Education within 30 days of course completion

  • Compliance Procedure: Attorneys must log into their Attorney Portal on the Supreme Court of Ohio website and review their Final Reporting Transcript. If any information is missing or inaccurate the attorney should notify the Commission on CLE.

Additional Info

  • Carryover Credit: 12 credits may be carried over into the next reporting period, excluding Professional Conduct credits

  • All courses on SproutEd are approved for credit in Ohio

  • In 2023 the Supreme Court of Ohio removed limits on self-study credits. Effective January 1, 2023, attorneys may complete all CLE credits online

Attorneys in their first reporting period must complete the New Lawyers Training Program:

Total Credits: 12 credit hours:

  • At least 1 hour in Professional Conduct: Ethics, Professionalism, Alcoholism, Substance Abuse, Mental health or Access to Justice
  • At least 1 hour in Law Office Management
  • At least 1 hour in Client Fund Management

Attorneys can complete all 24 credits online with SproutEd. All of SproutEd’s courses are approved for credit in Ohio.
