Oregon CLE Requirements for Attorneys

Oregon MCLE Requirements Overview

Credit Requirements

  • Total Credits: 45 credit hours every 3 years
    • At least 5 hours in Ethics
    • At least 1 hour in Child and Elder Abuse Reporting
    • At least 3 hours in Access to Justice (every other reporting period)
    • At least 1 hour in Substance Abuse and Mental Health

  • Credit Format: All 45 credits can be from Live Webcasts or On Demand courses and can be taken on SproutEd

  • All Courses on SproutEd are approved for credit in Oregon

Compliance & Reporting

  • CLE Deadline: April 30th

  • Reporting Deadline: May 31st

  • Reporting Procedure:  SproutEd reports your attendance and credit to the State Bar of Oregon within 30 days of completion

  • Compliance Procedure: Attorneys must certify and submit their MCLE transcript by logging into their Member Dashboard on the State Bar of Oregon website by May 31st

Additional Info

  • Carryover Credit: 15 credits may be carried over into the next reporting period, including 6 in Ethic. Child and Elder Abuse Reporting and Access to Justice credit may only be carried over as General credit.

  • All courses on SproutEd are approved for credit in Oregon

  • All 45 credits can be completed online with SproutEd

Attorneys within their first reporting period.

Total Credits: 15 credit hours:

  • At least 2 hours in Ethics (1 of which must in Oregon Ethics and Professionalism)
  • At least 9 hours in Practical Skills (4 of which must be specific to Oregon practice and procedure)
  • At least 1 hour in Substance Abuse and Mental Health
  • A 3-credit Oregon State Bar approved introductory course in Access to Justice

Attorneys can complete all 45 credits online with SproutEd. All of SproutEd’s courses are approved for credit in Oregon.
