Rhode Island MCLE Requirements Overview
Credit Requirements
- Total Credits: 10 credit hours per year
- At least 2 hours in Ethics, Professionalism or Substance Abuse
- At least 2 hours in Ethics, Professionalism or Substance Abuse
- Credit Format: All 10 credits can be from Live Webcasts, 6 may be from On Demand courses, all of which can be taken on SproutEd
- All Courses on SproutEd are approved for credit in Rhode Island
Compliance & Reporting
- CLE Deadline: June 30th
- Reporting Deadline: June 30th
- Reporting Procedure: SproutEd reports your attendance and credit to the Rhode Island MCLE Commission within 30 days of completion
- Compliance Procedure: Attorneys must certify their compliance through their Attorney Portal on the Rhode Island Supreme Court website

- Carryover Credit: 10 Live Webcast credits can be carried forward to the next reporting period
- All courses on SproutEd are approved for credit in Rhode Island
- All courses may be completed online with SproutEd
Rhode Island CLE Requirements FAQs

Attorneys in their first and second reporting periods.
Newly admitted attorneys are exempt from the CLE requirements. However, they must complete the Rhode Island Bridge the Gap Program by June 30th of the reporting period the year after admission.
Attorneys can complete all 10 credits online with SproutEd. All of SproutEd’s courses are approved for credit in Rhode Island.
