Connecticut MCLE Requirements Overview

Credit Requirements

  • Total Credits: 12 credit hours per year
    • At least 2 hours in Ethics

  • Credit Format: All credits may be taken as On-Demand or Live Webinar courses

  • All Courses on SproutEd are approved for Live Webinar or On-Demand credit in Connecticut

Compliance & Reporting

  • CLE Deadline: December 31st

  • Reporting Procedure:  Attendance reporting is not required, Attorneys are required to maintain a record of their certificates for seven years in case of audit or disciplinary investigation

  • Compliance Procedure:  Attorneys certify compliance with the CLE requirement on their annual registration form

Additional Info

  • Carryover Credit:  2 credits may be carried over into the next reporting period, including 2 in Ethics

  • All credit hours may be completed online

  • All courses on SproutEd are approved for credit in Connecticut

Connecticut CLE Requirements FAQs

Attorneys admitted to practice in the current calendar year.

Newly admitted attorneys do not have a CLE requirement. Newly admitted attorneys may carryover 2 credit hours, including 2 in Ethics.

Attorneys can complete all 12 credits on SproutEd. All of SproutEd’s courses are approved for credit in Connecticut.

Attorneys must keep a record of certificates received for 7 years.
