Tennessee MCLE Requirements Overview

Credit Requirements

  • Total Credits: 15 credit hours every year
    • At least 1 hour in Ethics

  • Credit Format: All 15 credits can be from Live Webcasts or On Demand courses and can be taken on SproutEd

  • All Courses on SproutEd are approved for credit in Tennessee

Compliance & Reporting

  • CLE Deadline: December 31st

  • Reporting Deadline: March 31st

  • Reporting Procedure:  SproutEd reports your attendance and credit to the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education within 30 days of course completion

  • Compliance Procedure: By February 28th the Commission sends all attorneys an Annual Report Statement showing their compliance transcript from the previous period. Attorneys must complete and return the statement by March 31st.

Additional Info

  • Carryover Credit: 15 credits may be carried over into the next reporting period

  • All courses on SproutEd are approved for credit in Tennessee

  • All credits can be taken online with SproutEd

Tennessee CLE Requirements FAQs

Tennessee does not distinguish newly admitted attorneys for CLE purposes.

Newly admitted attorneys are subject to the same CLE requirements as all attorneys.

Attorneys can complete all 15 credits online with SproutEd. All of SproutEd’s courses are approved for credit in Tennessee.
