June is a crucial month for attorneys, with 13 states setting their Continuing Legal Education deadlines. Each state has its own set of rules for CLE credits and carry-over policies, making compliance a challenge. This guide offers a state-by-state breakdown to ensure you meet your obligations.


June 2025 CLE Deadlines by State


Arizona

Arizona attorneys must complete 15 CLE credits each year, including at least 3 hours in Ethics. All 15 credits can be earned through Live Webinar or On-Demand courses. Attorneys can carry over up to 15 credits into the next reporting period, including 3 Ethics credits.

Credit Requirements: 15 credit hours per year (At least 3 hours in Ethics)
Credit Format: All 15 credits may be taken as Live Webinar or On-Demand

Arkansas

Attorneys in Arkansas are required to complete 12 CLE credits annually, with a minimum of 1 Ethics credit. They may earn all credits through Live Webinar or On-Demand courses. Additionally, up to 12 credits, including the Ethics credit, can be carried over into the following compliance period.

Illinois

Illinois attorneys must complete 30 CLE credits every two years, with specific requirements in Diversity and Inclusion and Mental Health and Substance Abuse. A minimum of 1 credit in Diversity and Inclusion and 1 credit in Mental Health and Substance Abuse are mandatory. All credits can be earned through On-Demand or Live Webinar courses.

Reporting Deadline: July 15, 2025
Credit Requirements: 30 credit hours, every two years (at least 1 credit in Diversity and Inclusion, and at least 1 credit in Mental Health and Substance Abuse)
Credit Format: All 30 credits can be On-Demand or Live Webinar courses
Carryover Credit: Up to 10 credits may be carried over to the next reporting period, including Professional Responsibility. Attorneys must add carryover credits to their transcripts on their My MCLE profile for them to be applied to their MCLE requirements.

Kansas

Kansas attorneys are required to complete 12 CLE credits annually, including 2 credits in Ethics. Attorneys have the option to earn all credits via Live Webinar or On-Demand courses. Additionally, up to 10 credits may be carried over to the next compliance period, though Ethics credits cannot be carried over.

Kentucky attorneys must complete 12 CLE credits each year, including at least 2 credits in Ethics. Attorneys are allowed to carry over up to 24 credits into the following two reporting periods, with up to 4 of those credits being in Ethics.

Attorneys can earn all 45 credits through Live Webinar courses, with 30 of those credits eligible for On-Demand options.

Up to 12 general credits, including 2 Ethics credits, can be carried over into the next reporting period.

New attorneys must complete a 6-hour Professionalism course in place of the Ethics credits. All 36 credits may be earned through Live Webcasts, with up to 24 of them available through On-Demand courses.

Vermont attorneys are required to complete 24 CLE credits over a two-year period. This includes at least 2 hours in Ethics, 1 hour in Attorney Wellness, 1 hour in Diversity and Inclusion, and 12 hours through either Moderated or Non-Moderated Interactive Programming.

Credit Requirements: 24 credit hours every 2 years (at least 2 hours in Ethics, at least 1 hour in Attorney Wellness, at least 1 hour in Diversity and Inclusion, and at least 12 hours by Moderated Programming or Non-Moderated Programming with Interactivity as a Key Component)
Credit Format: All 24 credits can be from Live Webcasts or On Demand courses and can be taken on SproutEd. Live Webcasts are considered Moderated Programming. SproutEd’s On Demand Courses are Non-Moderated Programming with interactivity as a key component.
Carryover Credit: Credits may be carried over from the second year of an attorney’s reporting period

West Virginia

West Virginia attorneys must fulfill a total of 24 CLE credits every two years. This includes a requirement of 3 credits in areas such as Ethics, Office Management, Substance Abuse, or Elimination of Bias.
