New Members: Free 1 credit course with code FREECLE

How many CLE credits do Missouri attorneys need?

Missouri attorneys must complete 15 CLE credit hours per year, including 3 hours in ethics, 1 of which must be in Elimination of Bias.

The CLE compliance period runs July 1 through June 30, and the report is due by July 31.

Details

• Ethics requirement: At least 3 of the 15 hours must be ethics. One of those must focus on elimination of bias.

• Self-study limit: Up to 6 hours may be earned via self-study or on-demand courses (but not for specialty credits).

• Live requirement / format: At least 9 hours must be live or interactive.

• Carryover: Excess live program credits (not self-study) may carry over up to 15 hours. Ethics / bias credits carry over under limited thresholds (3 ethics, 1 bias).

• New admittees: Attorneys are exempt from the MCLE requirement for the reporting year in which they are admitted.

Key Takeaway: Missouri requires 15 CLE hours annually (with 3 ethics), allows up to 6 self-study hours, mandates 9 live hours minimum, and permits carryover of excess live credit.
