New Members: Free 1 credit course with code FREECLE

Is live webcast or in-person CLE required in Alaska?

No — Alaska does not require CLE to be in person, but it does allow live webcasts and technology-delivered formats to satisfy the requirement. All 12 annual CLE credits, including 3 ethics credits, may be earned via live or technology-delivered courses.

Annual CLE Requirements in Alaska

  • Total requirement: 12 credit hours per calendar year
  • Ethics requirement: 3 credit hours
  • Reporting period: January 1 – December 31
  • Reporting deadline: February 1 of the following year

Credit Formats and Limits

  • Live webcasts (interactive real-time webinars) are accepted as live programs
  • Technology-delivered (on-demand audio/video) courses are permitted for all credits
  • There is no stated limit on how many credits can come from technology-delivered formats

Carryover

  • Up to 12 credits may be carried forward to the next reporting period

Provider Accreditation

  • Live programs held in Alaska must be approved by the Alaska Bar Association
  • Courses from other jurisdictions or webcasts may be credited if approved by another MCLE jurisdiction

Key Takeaway: Alaska allows attorneys to satisfy the live requirement via live webcasts, and technology-delivered courses may be used for all credits, so in-person attendance is not required.
