New Members: Free 1 credit course with code FREECLE

Is live webcast or in-person CLE required in Utah?

Yes — Utah requires that at least 6 of the 12 annual CLE credits be “live verified” CLE, which may include in-person, remote group, or verified e-CLE (live webcast). The remaining 6 hours may be earned via self-study or elective CLE formats.

Utah CLE Requirements & Format Rules

  • Total requirement: 12 accredited CLE hours per compliance cycle (July 1 to June 30).
  • Ethics & Professionalism: 1 hour of ethics and 1 hour of professionalism/civility must be included.
  • Live “Verified” CLE: At least 6 hours must be “Verified CLE” — i.e. live attendance formats including in-person, remote group, or verified e-CLE.
  • Elective / Self-Study Credit: The other 6 hours may be self-study or elective CLE (such as recorded, on-demand formats) subject to accreditation.
  • No carryover: Utah does not permit carrying over CLE credits to the next compliance period.

Key Takeaway: Utah requires half of your annual CLE to be “live verified” (in-person, remote group, or verified e-CLE); you may earn the other half through approved self-study or elective formats.
