What Are My Deadlines and Credit Requirements?
If you’re practicing law in OH, you need to complete 24 CLE credits every 2 years. At least 2.5 of those credits must be in Professional Conduct: Ethics, Professionalism, Alcoholism, Substance Abuse, Mental health or Access to Justice.
You have until December 31st to complete your CLEs, and until January 31st to report them (SproutEd handles the reporting for you).
Your reporting year is determined by: Last name ending in A-L – report in odd years; last name ending M-Z – report in even years.
What Types of CLE Courses Are Accepted in Ohio?
All 24 credits can be from Live Webcasts or On Demand courses.

OH CLE FAQs
How do I report my CLE credits?
SproutEd reports your attendance and credit to the Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on Continuing Legal Education within 30 days of course completion.
Attorneys must log into their Attorney Portal on the Supreme Court of Ohio website and review their Final Reporting Transcript. If any information is missing or inaccurate the attorney should notify the Commission on CLE.
Can I carry over extra CLE credits?
12 credits may be carried over into the next reporting period, excluding Professional Conduct credits.
What are the consequences of not completing my CLE in time?
Attorneys who fail to comply with the continuing legal education or continuing judicial education requirements will be subject to late fees, monetary sanctions, and/or suspension from the practice of law.
What if I’m New to Practicing in Ohio?
Attorneys in their first reporting period must complete the New Lawyers Training Program:
Total Credits: 12 credit hours:
- At least 1 hour in Professional Conduct: Ethics, Professionalism, Alcoholism, Substance Abuse, Mental health or Access to Justice
- At least 1 hour in Law Office Management
- At least 1 hour in Client Fund Management
